Just like with Hearts of Iron 4 and Victoria 3, Crusader Kings 3 has its end date as well. Despite their apparent similarities, Crusader King 3 does have some differences. In today’s article, we will take a look at them, as well as how to extend the game.
Conditions of the end in CK 3?
Compared to for example HOI4 and other games, Crusader King 3 ends with the year 1453 and that’s it. Then the final screen with your statistics appears. In case you are interested in specific conditions that precede the end, there are none. Once the last year of gameplay comes, your game is simply finished.
What about the time frame of CK 3?
Crusader Kings 3 covers the period of the Middle Ages. Because of that, we go from 867 (the date of the Battle of York which was fought between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria) and 1066 (the date of the Battle of Hastings between the Norman-French army and the English army of Harold Godwinson) to 1453 (the year of the fall of Constantinople). This time frame is essential to the game and even if you would play past the end date in Crusader Kings 3, there would be no new content. After reaching the year 1453, the game ends and the stats screen appears on the screen.
How can I extend the timeline of CK 3?
One option for you is to try Europa Universalis 4. Thanks to the fact that Crusader Kings 3 ends in 1453 and Europa Universalis begins in 1444, it is more or less possible to continue the “history”. Another option would be to change the end date manually in its folder, HOWEVER, this may have consequences for the game and may cause it to crash.
Because of that, we can recommend changing the end date in Crusader Kings 3 the safe way:
- Choose “New Game” from the main menu (you can’t do it if you have already started the game).
- Click the “Game Rules” button.
- Scroll down and find the “End Date” option-
- Click the arrow next to “1453” and you will find the “No End Date” option.
- Press the “Apply” button at the bottom of the menu.
This will allow you to play without limits and without worrying that your game will end. The only catch is that you won’t be able to receive achievements.
