One fun thing in the last SimCity was natural disasters. In vanilla Cities Skylines, this feature is not there. But after years later, the Paradox Interactive developers have announced and implemented the Natural disasters DLC, which implements 7 natural disasters. Let’s take a look at these disasters.
Available natural disasters in Cities Skylines
As I mentioned above, in Cities Skylines, there are 7 natural disasters:
- Tsunami
- Tornado
- Thunderstorm
- Earthquake
- Sinkholes
- Forest Fire
- Meteor Strik
- Collapse
- Fire
Each disaster is specific, and you can prevent these disasters ´by taking countermeasures. These will get you noticed and give you some time to prepare. Anyway, if you have this DLC activated, you need to prepare for possible problems also you also need to calculate with your budget so that you have enough money in your account to help your citizens.
Turning off natural disasters in Cities Skylines
If you need to turn off natural disasters, you can deactivate the DLC and you won’t have the features that the DLC brings, or you can turn off natural disasters in the game by doing this…
Options menu > Gameplay tab > Enable random disasters > Turn it off
… if you disable this DLC, you will lose service buildings with helicopters such as the fire fighting helicopter, medical helicopter and police helicopter, which should help you to speed up individual interventions. I don’t feel like you have to turn off the DLC in the game. Just turn it off in your Steam library and you probably won’t lose anything.
